June 2009 -- ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership have approved several new requirements regarding CAE exams and development hours, effective later this year.
New Application Professional Development requirements:

New applicants must submit 100 hours of professional development hours within the past five years.

Applicants will be able to list general association management programs (such as an Annual Meeting or CAE prep course) without any restriction.

Facilitators of a course may earn 2 credits per course up to a maximum of 10 credits.

Candidates with an application on file with less than 100 hours only need to submit the necessary hours to get to 100 – they aren’t penalized and required to submit 25 hours.

Beginning effective Jan. 2010, the CAE program will recognize receiving mentoring specifically focused on the field of association management as a professional development activity.

Hours will count on a 50% basis, up to 10 hours for new applications and 4 hours for renewals. The mentor must be a CAE and sign a designated form completed by the mentee.
CAE Authoritative Literature will be released in late Fall or early 2010 and will serve as the Authoritative Literature beginning in May 2010.
