    AACD POSITION DESCRIPTION

     

    Job Title:                         Membership Manager

    Department:                 Membership & Marketing      

    Reports To:                    Executive Director

    Status:                             Full time, exempt

    SUMMARY

    The Membership Manager applies his/her outstanding skills in customer service, problem solving, project planning, and execution to support members, volunteers, prospective members, and co-workers. Build positive working relationships with members and volunteers. In addition, the Membership Manager is responsible for meeting the membership and recruitment goals of the Academy by delivering member retention and acquisition initiatives.

    The Membership Manager supports multiple projects effectively, prioritizing and executing tasks, and reacting promptly and efficiently to changing priorities, demands, and deadlines. Must be detail oriented and proactively respond to deadlines. Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite required. Proficiency with iMIS or similar association management system preferred. 

     

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Retain members by monitoring existing membership for lapsing members and continually developing and implementing strategies to encourage their timely renewal.
    • Work with Marketing and IT staff to develop membership recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies; lead person responsible for executing these strategies.
    • Coordinate and implement all membership processes, including new member mailings, renewal mailings, tracking reports, and answering membership queries.
    • Assist in the recruitment process by working with member mentors and member-get-member (MGM) programs to develop these acquisition channels.
    • Develop and manage annual membership budget.
    • Identify ideas, trends, and plans for continuous improvement of all member touchpoints identified as priorities to recruit and retain more members.
    • Conduct ongoing research on member needs and trends, attitudes and awareness, including analysis and reporting of results
    • Act as liaison to committees as assigned
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Mechanical (Acquisition, Retention, Fulfillment)

    • Ensure that all steps and processes in the renewal and processing of memberships are handled on a timely and consistent basis (email, postal mail, etc.)
    • With Database Specialist, manage membership billing/processing
    • Work with Marketing to develop and revise communications directed to prospective and former members, to include information kit new member onboarding kit fresh and relevant
    • Devise and implement new ideas for member communications, interactions and activities

     

    Member Service

    • Provide first-line, high quality member and member service and coordinate internal member services team
    • Ensure the phone team is kept informed of changing items, promotions, mail drops, etc.
    • Monitor and respond in a timely manner to the Membership@ mailbox
    • Respond to member inquiries and other ad hoc member service requests

     

    Conference Support

    • New Member Orientation
    • New Member Concierge and Volunteer Program

     EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
    • At least five year's experience in association management or similar field is required
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Knowledge of membership database programs such as iMIS and Crystal Reports is a plus
    • Supervisory, volunteer liaison, and marketing experience a plus
    • Travel required – 10%
